The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards will be held directly this year following the 2020 hybrid performance due to the pandemic. The star-studded VMA full of gigs will take place on September 12, 2021 in New York.

This year, rapper and singer Doja Cat will host the event, featuring famous artists and superstar presenters on stage to celebrate with music. This is the first time nominations for Video of the Year have hosted an awards ceremony in the same year.

Some of the artist sets to perform on stage include Camila Cabello’s latest single “Don’t Go yet”, Kacey Musgraves’ “Star-Crossed”, Machine Gun Kelly’s “Papercuts”, Shawn and more. Mendes will sing the recently released “Summer of Love”.

Chloe (known as Chloe x Halle) is making a highly anticipated solo debut on the VMA stage, and Twenty One Pilots will perform their hit single “Saturday”. Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo will also be on stage.

The main nominees for the night are Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion, nods 7 and 6 respectively. Other top contenders are Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon and Lil Nas X. MTV PUSH artists Olivia Rodrigo, The Kid LAROI and 24kGoldn have also been nominated for several first-timers.

The awards ceremony will also commemorate the legendary rock group Foo Fighters receiving a special award from the US Global Icon Award. Foo Fighters has been nominated for three VMAs this year, including Best Rock for “Shame Shame,” and will perform for the first time since 2007.

The awards ceremony will be held on September 12, 2021 at 8:00 PM EST/PT (5:30 AM on September 13 for Indian fans). The show will air on MTV’s linear and digital platforms in 180 countries and territories. The awards ceremony will be broadcast on MTV and VH1.
