Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Andhra Pradesh has directed the Ministry of Education to prepare for the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).
At Tuesday’s education sector review meeting, Reddy asked officials to have teachers in all subjects in all schools starting in grade three.
The Ministry of Education has also been instructed to improve the quality of textbooks.
The government is also focusing on partnering with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for all types of schools in the state.
State Department of Education officials said initially 1,000 schools were affiliated with CBSE.
Meanwhile, under the second phase of the Nadu-Nedu plan, 12,663 schools will be renovated and 18,498 additional classrooms will be built at a cost of Rs 4,535.74 crore.
Likewise, in the third phase, 24,900 schools will be renovated, with an estimated cost of Rs 7,821 crore.
Officials said engineers assigned to work on Nadu-Nedu are trained at the town’s secretariat.
The Prime Minister has ordered special attention to the maintenance of schools and toilets, including providing emergency funds to each school for emergency repair work.
