When it comes to quality content delivery, Malayalam Cinema beats its competitors by margin this year. Due to the pandemic, many films are decided to be stopped, reducing the number of films and ultimately reducing quality as well as quantity. The Malayalam industry is in turmoil while all other industries struggle to deliver two or three classic films (including Hollywood) by 2021. If I’m not mistaken, Kaanekkaane was delivered by Malayalam Cinema in 2021 as the 9th or 10th quality product so far. During the remaining three months of this year, the number may increase and the final number for Malayalam Cinema will be higher than for Malayalam Cinema. All of the rest of India’s film industry put together. I hope I’m not exaggerating. And I’m definitely happy to have a comparison by the end of this year.

Kaanekkaane is a film that brings a new dimension to the human conscience through the freedom of cinema. What we saw at Dishyam 2 earlier this year, but different here. Rather, figuratively, it is the complete opposite. Deputy Minister Tahsildar Paul Mathai arrives in town for judicial work. Son-in-law Alan welcomes him warmly. Paul wonders when he will see his grandson again, but leaves the house when something happens to Allen. There will be life changes leading to an emotional and exciting journey for all these characters. Svati Batkal’s documentary ‘Rubary Rossini’ (2019) produced by Amir Khan Productions delivered a message of forgiveness that reminds me of. Sometimes it’s better to forgive and release the criminal than to take revenge, and all of these stories in it are based on a true story, so it’s an eternal masterpiece for me. Here, Kaanekkaane is identical but identical in a single episode, unlike Rubaru Roshni’s multiple stories. Kaanekkaane has been treated as a thriller, and with its constantly jumping background score and superb cinematography, you can check out this atmospheric genius.

The acting in the movie made it stand out even more. All the characters look real, except for a bit of bluff. Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shruti Ramachandran and the supporting cast all showed their potential. The scenario is slow at first with these pauses and after a while the same pauses start to look interesting and creepy. As time goes on, the story gets more intense and mature, and has a running time of about 120 minutes, so it held up pretty well despite the slow start.

An artist can easily create a work while gambling within a unique subject. It is not normal in any film industry for two different human consciences to collide. If you remember the Hollywood masterpiece ‘The Bull Bow Incident’ (1943), which gave a dizzying speech on the human conscience, I don’t think any film has approached it for a long time in these 80 years. So it’s out of the ordinary and everything is very exclusive because of the way it messes with relationships, guilt, compassion and forgiveness. There are a few things wrong, but it’s not a big deal as manager Manu Ashokan has found a haven for a certified win. In short, another fantastic Malayalam movie of the year and very close to the classic tag.
